Folding Wagon Display

Role: Project Team Leader and Mechanical Design Engineer

I led the design and build of a custom automated display that featured the Atlas Stroll ‘N Wagon folding and unfolding on a continuous loop. This one-of-a-kind installation was created for the front window of Radio Flyer’s first retail store, located at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. The goal was to demonstrate the wagon’s compact fold mechanism in a way that was both engaging for customers and consistent with the store’s high-end visual aesthetic.

Working with a small cross-functional team that included an electrical engineer and a prototype engineer, I managed the mechanical design and overall integration of the system. We developed the display entirely in-house, avoiding the need for third-party fabrication and delivering a cost-effective solution with full control over quality and design intent.

Because the display operated continuously during store hours, we prioritized reliability and safety. We encased the mechanism in clear plexiglass for protection and visibility, and we incorporated an emergency shut-off switch as a precaution. The final result was a clean, polished presentation that captured attention and highlighted the innovation behind the product in a dynamic and memorable way.
